Main Square

The shape of the main square of the town is an irregular polygon surrounded by arcades of different times and styles. At its south side it was annexed a quadrangular place where is the so-called "Pato", while to the north it extends to another square that leads to the entrance of Santa Maria Mayor Church.

This is a traditional Spanish square, surrounded as has already been said by arcades, where we can find the Renaissance style columns with Tuscan bases and capitals most of the times while in other cases it appears that materials have been reused or, finally, we can see arcades of modernist trend.

In the middle of the square we can find a large and artistic Baroque fountain dating from 1927, which is known as "El Pilon". It consists of a polygonal pond with spikes at the corners in ball shape while the center holds the "cup" from which emanate four pipes or nozzles in each of which we can see a face carved in stone.

This square represents the heart of the social life of the towns; not in vain in it we find the church, the town hall, many bars and terraces and it is where most of the parties of the town are also performed.
